{#154} shipwrecked sweethearts

{colors} slate, black pearl, white & brass
{description} There is something romantic about being shipwrecked on a beautiful deserted island. I'm thinking of a secret elopement with no one around except you and your better half {oh and a photographer because you want your wedding day captured on film or maybe not} But if eloping is not your thing, you can easily adapt this theme to share the day with your family and friends. The color palette is understated and the decor is filled with various trinkets you would typically find in treasure chest. Scattered pearls, old bottles, skeleton keys and brassy telescopes are a few ideas. Still not convinced? Just picture the bride with her tousled hair wearing a light silk chiffon dress meeting her beau at the water's end and exchange vows with a backdrop of sailing fleets behind them.  Like I said...so romantic.

{#149} southern seersucker

{colors} pale yellow, blue seersucker, white
{description} Sorry for the missing Friday Faves post but I couldn't end the week without a little Derby inspiration. Anyone going?  I've never been but I love all the fanfare and those hats are pretty amazing.  I substituted the traditional red roses for a lighter floral bouquet to blend with the lighter palette of pale yellow and blue seersucker.  Have a wonderful weekend friends!!

{#147} mexican margarita

{colors} aqua, cactus, agave
{description}You probably figured out what my inspiration for this board was just by the title alone.  Can anything be better than a margarita especially with a nice salted rim? I love how the color palette is light and soothing. I say let's celebrate 5 de Mayo on the beach. Olé!!

{#145} lovely lavender

{colors} lavender, linen, white
{description} I wanted to create a something that both soon to be sister-in-laws will adore.  I’m a big fan of intimate outdoor weddings and I pictured salvaged windows as a seating chart leaning against an old tree to direct the guests to canopied tables tucked away in the garden. Sprigs of lavender make their appearance in many ways – to the simple boutonnière, refreshing signature drink and in the landscape. I also love the use of delicate lace, lavender gingham and vintage French linens in this board. {first seen on Love & Lavender}

{#143} kiwi & aqua

{colors} chartreuse, aqua, white
{description} I love when a board comes together so quickly like this one did. I first spotted those adorable quilted cakes in the latest issue of Martha and knew I had to create a board with those colors. I love how flirty that layered ruffled dress is and wouldn't your groom look handsome wearing one of those colorful bowties.

{#141} golden raspberry

{colors} pink copper, golden raspberry, white chocolate
{description} I had this board sitting on the back-burner for some time now because it took me quite a long time to find the last photo that would complete it...that amazing outdoor lounge!  I love raspberries but I'm intrigued with it's cousin the golden raspberry. It's golden-orange color paired with blush pink make for a sophisticated palette.  It's romantic, luminous and perfect for any upcoming spring/summer wedding.

{#136} wedding atelier

{colors} icy blue, warm chocolate brown, sepia and vintage white
{description} we've all hear of brides using their wedding dress as inspiration for the wedding décor and even cake but have you ever consider the actual studio where those gorgeous gowns are created as inspiration?  i’m dreaming of various textiles both rich and sheer, vintage buttons, wooden spools filled with ribbon and sewing paper pattern.

{#133} love in the garden

{colors} cherry red, ivory, warm brown
{description} i’m beginning to steer away from winter inspiration boards because quite frankly i’m done with this gloomy weather and i’m wishing for those perfect sunny days where you can just sit back and soak up the warm weather. most garden weddings usually soft and pink but i wanted a deeper, richer color for this board. when i first encountered that image of the red skirt i was immediately drawn to it. what a great alternative look for bridesmaids? they can definitely be worn again and again after the wedding day and brides why not forget the veil altogether and sport a gorgeous sun hat instead.

{shoot} vintage valentine tea party

i thought today would be a great day to kick off some valentine’s day inspiration with you. the super sweet and amazingly talented jenny of {jenny haas photography} sent me this mock tea party she did a few weeks ago with her sister katie.  the ladies took advantage of katie’s new shabby chic dining room and with jenny's ever growing collection of tea cups created this gorgeous party set up perfect for valentine’s day or bridal shower.  pretty cute right?i love cupcakes nestled in pretty tea cups and those vintage postcards are the perfect escort cards... books in birdcage and paper doily garland make me happy....these ladies are pretty crafty,  jenny baked the cake and katie made the pillows for the chairs and both worked on the fabric hearts cake topper...

i want to send out a virtual hug to jenny for sharing this shoot.

{#132} sweet maple

{destination} vermont
{colors} maple, burnt orange, white
{description} this time of year always makes me want to drive up to vermont and visit their famous sugarhouses and watch the process of syrup making {ha! more like sampling}. it had me thinking that it could make for a great inspiration board for those winter brides looking for something different and maybe a little sweeter too ;) the rich and golden palette of warm maple and orange is balanced out with crisp white. can't you just picture some dreamy shots of the couple with a foggy backdrop thanks to the steam coming from the sugerhouses? i can...but i must admit that i love the look of thick stockings for the girls and doesn't the galvanized cake plate reminds you of the sap buckets too?

{#131} paper cranes + china blue

{colors} china blue, lavender, white
{description} a few months ago my dear friend lydia asked if i would create an inspiration board for her friend shana who is getting married next fall.  lydia basically told me that the bride has been collecting antique china and especially loves blue and white china.   the bride is also a fan of purple and lydia suggested a softer shade of lavender would be better with the blue and white china pieces.  the couple wants to include asian elements in their wedding with charming paper cranes and cherry blossoms.  i cannot wait to see the final result of shana's wedding.

{destination} saint tropez, france
{colors} sunset, bronze, ocean blue
{description} we are heading south from the last destination board to the gorgeous coastal town of saint tropez. located in the french riviera its home to glamorous jetsetters and movie stars. the palette i chose for this board is a golden bronze that reminds me of sun kissed skin and crisp ocean blue of the mediterranean.

{#124} navy + reindeer

{season} winter
{colors} navy, white, mercury glass
{description} for today’s wedding board I’m dreaming of a winter white wedding with accents of rich navy blue and mercury glass.  this color palette allows for a simple yet sophisticated wedding. if you want to add a bit of whimsy, included some white reindeers to your décor as well.  how much do you love those giant crystal chandeliers over the table? gorgeous!!

{#123} winter berries

yesterday i had the pleasure to guest post on {it's party time}. just in case you missed it, here is the final installment of the winter bloom series.

{colors} berry red, white snow, green
{description} who doesn't LOVE the vibrant color of winter berries...they are so festive. this board has me dreaming of an intimate wedding with gorgeous view of  snow capped mountains. if you want to recreate that charming bouquet, simply tie a pretty ribbon around the "stem" and for a simple tablescape, run the berries down the middle of the table with white votive candles and silver jingle bells tucked within.

{#122} pretty paperwhites

happy thursday friends! I’m ecstatic with everyone’s positive response to the series. it seriously means so much to me when you comment on my blog. thank you!

so, i covered poinsettia and amaryllis, so the only logical choice would have to be paperwhites.  can anything be prettier than paperwhites?  nope…don’t think so. these simple and fragrant blooms are my favorite element for a winter wedding along with serving delicious hot cocoa {with uber adorable snowflake marshmallows} to your guest toward the end of the night...aren't they the perfect little midnight treat?  my only big suggestion for incorporating paperwhite in your wedding is to probably avoid using them as centerpieces because the scent might be a little strong for your guests, but do consider using them for your bouquet or placing them on the guestbook or escort card table instead.

{#120} pink poinsettia

back in october i put out a little survey and a whopping 58.4% {to be exact} wanted to see more inspiration boards on P&P. so your wish is my command …i created a winter bloom series that i will be sharing with you for the next few days. i hope you enjoy these mini inspirations.
for the first winter series board i choose the ever popular poinsettia flower but with a twist- it’s pink instead of the typical red or white.  can you picture a pretty pink winter wedding or {bridal shower} with delicious macarons and sparkly dancing shoes?

{#119} winter sage

{season} winter
{colors} sage green, silver, white
{description} good morning friends...i wanted to start the winter collection boards with a light and airy one with a unexpected wintry palette of sage and silver. i love the use of ornaments in weddings for this time of year, they are a great way to use color throughout the decor.  can't you just picture an intimate city hall wedding with this board?

{#115} roasted chestnuts

{season} autumn / winter
{colors} chestnut brown, charcoal, off white
{description} chestnuts are a staple in my house when the weather begins to cool and it makes for the perfect  theme for a late autumn/winter wedding. the palette picks up the warm tones from the chestnuts and mixes it in with cool charcoal for this rustic wedding. before your guests prepare to leave hand them newspaper cones with hot roasted chestnuts inside for a toasty favor.
