wedding program challenge

A few weeks ago, I came across this DIY challenge from Minted.com. They recently introduced a new line of wedding programs and challenged bloggers to come up with fun and creative ways to embellish these programs.  I thought why not, and next thing I knew I signed up for it.

As soon as I received the package from Minted.com with the program samples, I was pleased to find the cocktail hour program inside. It's simple, clean and modern..it's so pretty right?

Since the inside of the program had such a beautiful and graphic design, I decided to print the program text on velum paper. That way the pattern can be seem under the text and not hidden  behind the program insert.

Luckily I had the perfect grosgrain ribbon in a pretty shade of yellow to bind everything together. In keeping with the simple and clean look of the program, I tied a simple knot on the side
I don't know about you but I ALWAYS cry {not ugly cry, just a few tears} at wedding ceremonies and I tend to forget to bring tissues with me e-v-e-r-y-t-i-m-e. It's true! So I decided to tuck in a pocket tissue inside the miniature envelope on the back of the program for anyone who happens to shed a tear or two like me.

So what do you think? you like? I would love to hear what you think.

Wish me luck friends!!!

{Wedding Program DIY}
Materials:

Program

Velum paper 8.5"x 11"

Grosgrain ribbon

Miniature envelopes

Pocket tissues
Double sided tape

Instructions:
Download the program insert page template and print on vellum paper. The document is divided into two columns. Using a paper cutter or scissors, carefully cut along the line.

Fold the program insert in half and place inside the program cover.  Using 18" ribbon, loop the ribbon around the cover and insert and tie a knot on the side.

Insert the pocket tissue inside the miniature envelope and secure it with double sided tape to the back of the program.

  19. I love this idea! Sounds crazy, but I never have tissues at a wedding and yet I'm a chronic crier! These would be so fun for a wedding - you'd hear me squeal with joy if I was handed one of these!
