{guest post} agua fresca bar from marry you me

When Chris asked me to guest post on Postcards & Pretties, it took me about 2.5 seconds to respond YES! I wanted to do something cute and worthy of the honor, and I came up with a little agua fresca bar, which would make a great addition to a wedding - before your outdoor ceremony as refreshment for thirsty guests, during cocktail hour, for a Mexican themed rehearsal dinner, or even a fun pre-wedding party. Way more interesting (and tasty) than just plain lemonade.
I made two different types of agua frescas: strawberry thyme and cantaloupe mint using fresh fruit and some herbs from my garden. These purees are super easy to make ahead of time, then just add water, sugar and lime juice to taste before serving.
Homemade Mexican Wedding Cookies are the perfect accompaniment to the refreshing agua frescas, and their name could not be more appropriate.
A fresh hand-tied bouquet, made the day before, with bright pops of color and lots of herbs like mint and flowering oregano. The bride's bouquet can do double duty after the ceremony in a vase on the bar.
For a fun, rustic touch serve the agua frescas in mason jars with paper straws (which are biodegradable and adorable). Guests can keep the mason jars, or you can wash and re-use them post wedding.
Hanging lanterns filled with tissue paper flowers are a whimsical touch, and a papel picado banner is a must. I found plastic ones, which are more durable than their tissue paper counterparts.

  4. This is such a fun set-up! The flowers look like it was handpicked from a pretty prairie and the colors give the Mexican theme a palette make-over. <3
