{sunday} stories

Finally picked up Jane Eyre after seeing the movie trailer for it.  I just recently realized that I do that after rushing to read Water for Elephants before it hits theaters.
Am I the only one or do you read books purposely before the movie comes out too?

Happy Sunday!

  1. I do the same. I like to have my own vision of the characters before I see them in movie form.

  2. If I haven't read the book already, in most cases it's like this: after the movie I learn that it's BASED on a novel OR the movie gets me interested in the book I knew about but didn't care enough to read it.

  4. I like reading A LOT...I read about 3 books a month, yet I haven't read this one as yet. Let me know how it was...usually the books are a lot better. I love this post Sunday Stories...so refreshing!

  7. I do the same thing! The downside is that I always end up loving the book and over analyzing the differences in the movie. Can't wait for Water for Elephants though!

  8. Every time I read a book before the movie, the movie doesn't seem as good as the book...
Love Jane Eyre and can't wait for Water for Elephants!

  9. A lot of the times what happens is that after i read the book, the movie is ... Mmmmm ok, but not ok GREAT, like the book! I love to read, i love to imagine the characters, the places, the objects the author describes... you can't get that watching the movie ;)

  11. For me, I've often read the book before the movie & the movie never compares (Lovely Bones, Sister's Keeper, etc). I loved Water for Elephants & I'm hoping the movie doesn't disappoint!

  12. I have been meaning to read the book for a while now, but since I would love to see Mia W. in some dreamy period movie with a dreamy leading man, I have to move it up to the top so I can read it before I watch the movie.

I like to read the books first because I always find I end up liking them better, and I'd rather have the movie influenced by my impressions of the book than the other way around.

  13. I do the same thing!!! My problem is that I stay up until 3 am just to finish the book ;-) Yet, now I am staying up til 3am just to finish a post - go fingure. I used to read all the time...nowadays I rarely do. But maybe I need to start reading again! However, to me the book is always better than the movie...as I create and imagine the way the characters look, the setting, how they talk...all of it...funny how the imagination is always better than the movie! And Jane Eyre has been one that I have wanted to read for quite some time! Please let us know how it is ;-)))
