postcards and pretties: {real wedding} holland + tripp

This romantic southern wedding has me smitten. The couple wanted to include as many personal touches as possible. The food was served on silver trays that belong to each of their grandmothers. Quotes from their favorite films were attached to wooden stumps on each table. Since Tripp is a writer, guests used a vintage typewriter to send their well-wishes in lieu of a traditional guest book. Holland's father is a pilot so they wanted to pay homage to him by having their guests toss paper airplanes at them as they walked down the aisle during the recessional. The parents of the bride sewed and rolled vintage napkins and tied them with a burlap ribbon. Holland wanted to incorporate something that she could pass on to her future children and that also had treasures from the past so she fell in love with the idea of having a bouquet created for her by using vintage brooches given to her by family and close friends. The Bride will wear Tripp's grandmother's engagement ring and wedding band, and the groom will wear his grandfathers wedding band. His grandparents were married in 1936 and remained married and completely in love until their passing almost 70 years later. Keeping with tradition, Holland had not one but two six pence's in her shoe, one for her mother's birth year and the other for her father's birth year. The cake toppers were custom made wooden figures. The groom topper wore a black suit with a Carolina Tarheel shirt underneath, just like the groom, and the bride wore a dress just like the brides. The brides mother made her two garters - the one she wore was orange and blue - Auburn University colors (Holland's alma mater) and the toss garter was carolina blue and white - UNC colors (the groom's alma mater). Katie and Jill of The Charmed Event found a very unique vintage store rack where they hung vintage photos of the couple's grandparents, parents, and other family members.

Holland wore a vintage looking tea-length Justin Alexander gown that looked like something out of an Audrey Hepburn movie. She saw it in a magazine and knew it was THE dress, even after purchasing another gown that she was talked into a couple of months before. The groom wore a tailored Dolce and Gabana suit with black shirt and white tie. Tripp surprised Holland by wearing a Batman belt buckle. He is a huge comic book fan and collector. Batman is his favorite.
