hi friends.....sorry for the late post but i just spent two hours shoveling the 12+ inches of snow off my driveway....ughhhh!!! so now i'm finally inside, exhausted and hungry ..i think i might pop some pillsbury ready to bake cookies in the oven and pass out.....hope everyone has a great weekend. xo
last summer while visiting a region in portugal called minho i came across {lenços dos namorados} or lover’s handkerchief. i was told that this poetic and lovely tradition consist of white cotton or linen handkerchief are hand embroidered in different colors with names, poems and secret messages by girls of marrying age as a declaration of their love for the man they would like to marry. when the handkerchief was complete, it was secretly passed to the lucky guy by a friend. how romantic is that!!!
another reason why i’m loving handkerchiefs is because they are popping up everywhere in weddings. here are a few ideas on how you can incorporate them in your wedding.
i'm loving this engagement shoot from{jessica bennett} . here's what the talented photographer said about the shoot - “the images were shot in an orange grove in oviedo, fl. both liz and jesse were born and raised in/around orlando, orange groves represent a huge part of what orlando looked like 50+ yrs. ago. liz is a huge fan of vintage, so i trusted her to pick the attire and i brought the suit case. “
{description} i finally tried lemoncello for the very first time and {wow}. this italian dessert digestif made with lemon zest, alcohol and sugar looks pretty but it packs a punch. i knew i wanted to create a board that reminded me of italy's almafi coast because that where this pretty little drink comes from. just sit back and imagine sitting in a italian cafe sipping this sweet delicious drink.
{description} i absolutely love rustic weddings… today’s inspiration board takes place in a old vintage barn full of charm…there is something special about incorporating vintage and heirloom pieces within your wedding – your grandmother’s pearls for your something old and antique silverware for something borrowed. make sure to keep things neutral for a sweet and simple gathering.
so who can keep up with all the amazing blogs and sites out there... i sure try to that's why i compiled a few of this weeks favorites....enjoy and have a wonderful weekend everyone......
have you noticed the monochromatic congratulatory bouquet at this year's winter olympics in vancouver? the bouquets are made up of green spider mums and green hypericum berries and large leaf greens, fern and loops of monkey grass and tied with a simple blue ribbon. i think they are quite beautiful. do you agree?
{description} happy mardi gras day... i thought today's destination board should be the oldest and famous french quarters in the beautiful city of new orleans. i didnt want this board to scream mardi gras but i wanted to use some elements ...everyone knows that purple, green and gold are the colors of mardi gras but i chose to soften them with light lavender, grassy green and touches of gold. i'm a big fan of tiny desserts so why not serve your guests warm mini beignets with different dipping sauces * and no new orleans wedding is complete without a second line dance, where the bride and groom dance in line with umbrellas and their guests follow them waving handkerchief...so like a great party.
{if you have a product or diy project that you believe will work well with my inspiration boards...email me at postcardsandpretties@gmail.com .. i would love to feature it}
{description}for today's inspiration board i wanted to create a wedding that was minimal and yet elegant. the bird couple cake topper and the nest boutonniere add hints of whimsy to this event and makes everything light as a feather.
{description} valentine's day isn't complete without it's icon cupid..the god of love and beauty and his fairy tale story with the beautiful mortal pysche.
{colors} chocolate brown, white wool, ebony, charcoal
{description} when i think of aspen- i think of snow...when i think of snow- i think of skiing...when i think of skiing - i think of hot cocoa...when i think of these things i created this board. enjoy!
{description} for today's board i was inspired by the heart-shaped chocolate box that is quintessential to valentine's day but with more of a romantic feel with warm chocolate browns and soft rose and pearl accents.
{description} sorry for the late post friends... i found a board i had created last month but totally forgot about it ...silly me...i love this board because it can be easily used for a winter or spring wedding or somewhere in between. i saw these lovely handmade invitations from brancoprata that i believe would look amazing with this wedding.... happy friday!
{description} this mexican inspiration board doesn't have your typical fiesta colors but instead a muted palette of cream and white with hints of green and brown. i love how serene and romantic this board looks it's one of my favorites.
{colors} amethyst purple, red, white, chocolate brown
{description} here is another inspiration board inspired by this month's birthstone - amethyst. the color combination is fresh and unexpected and would be perfect for a valentine's day wedding.
